Price: Cheaper than the initial cost of a replacement battery for my Palm Pre
Portability: Although bigger than my Pre or an iPhone, it slips into a pocket or briefcase. The retractable USB cord allows connectability to the smartphone/device without having to pull the backup out of the pocket/briefcase.
Versatility: This backup device came with several plug adapters - not just the mini USB that my Palm Pre uses. It looks like it has the ability to power up other devices such as iPods, GPS' etc. Compatibility check recommended...
I bought this to use for when my power-hungry Palm Pre started to lose its battery power and an A/C, USB or car power outlet wasn't available. The ice rink for instance.
Because swapping the battery in a Pre is time consuming (powering down, battery swap, then powering up) this is a much better alternative.
My only gripe is that this came with no instructions whatsoever. I therefore have no idea what devices this can power/charge besides my Pre. I had to guess at first-time charging & use. Basically it gets its charge from a USB (running on wall current). The blue lights sequence until the unit is fully charged, which in my case took 4 or 5 hours. When using, the silver power button is pushed for a second or so and the blue lights illuminate showing power on & the amount of charge available.
